1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using the Groundr mobile application ("App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App.

2. Description of Service

Groundr is a mobile application designed to help users reduce compulsive usage of dating applications. The App provides tools including app blocking, daily journaling, usage tracking, streaks, gamification, and educational content.

Groundr is not a medical device, therapy service, or substitute for professional healthcare. The App is a self-help tool. If you are experiencing mental health difficulties, addiction, or distress, please consult a qualified healthcare professional.

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 17 years old to use Groundr. By using the App, you represent that you meet this age requirement.

4. Account Registration

  • You may use the App anonymously or create an account using your email address.
  • You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials.
  • You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.
  • You agree to provide accurate information when creating your account.

5. Subscriptions and Payments

5.1 Free and Premium Plans

Groundr offers both free and premium features. Premium features require a paid subscription.

5.2 Billing

  • Subscriptions are billed through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.
  • Payment is charged to your App Store or Play Store account at confirmation of purchase.
  • Subscriptions automatically renew unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period.

5.3 Cancellation

  • You may cancel your subscription at any time through your App Store or Play Store account settings.
  • Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. You will retain access to premium features until then.
  • We do not provide refunds for partial billing periods. Refund requests must be directed to Apple or Google, as applicable.

5.4 Subscription Plans and Pricing

Groundr offers the following premium options:

  • Annual Plan: auto-renewable subscription billed once per year. Pricing varies by region and is displayed in the App before purchase.
  • Lifetime Access: one-time purchase granting permanent access to all premium features.

Exact prices are displayed in your local currency within the App and on the App Store or Play Store before any purchase is confirmed.

5.5 Free Trial

Groundr may offer a free trial period of 7 days for new users. During the trial, you have access to all premium features at no charge.

  • At the end of the trial period, your subscription will automatically convert to a paid subscription unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends.
  • You can cancel the trial at any time through your App Store or Play Store account settings. If you cancel during the trial, you will not be charged.
  • Only one free trial is available per Apple ID or Google account.

5.6 Price Changes

We reserve the right to change subscription prices. Any price changes will take effect at the start of the next billing period after notice is provided.

5.7 How to Manage or Cancel Your Subscription

You can manage, upgrade, or cancel your subscription at any time:

  • iOS: Open Settings > Tap your name > Subscriptions > Select Groundr > Cancel Subscription
  • Android: Open Google Play Store > Tap your profile > Payments & subscriptions > Subscriptions > Select Groundr > Cancel subscription

Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. You retain access to premium features until then.

5.8 Restoring Purchases

If you reinstall the App or switch devices, you can restore your previous purchases using the "Restore Purchases" button on the subscription screen. This will re-activate your premium access at no additional cost.

6. User Content

6.1 Ownership

You retain ownership of all content you create within the App, including journal entries, personal notes, reminders, and motivational reasons.

6.2 License

By submitting content to the App, you grant us a limited license to store, process, and display that content solely for the purpose of providing the App's functionality to you. We will not use your content for any other purpose.

6.3 Prohibited Content

You agree not to use the App to store or transmit content that is illegal, harmful, threatening, abusive, or otherwise objectionable.

7. App Blocking Functionality

7.1 System Permissions

The App requires certain system permissions to provide its blocking functionality:

  • iOS: Screen Time / Family Controls authorization
  • Android: Accessibility Service, Usage Stats, and Overlay permissions

You may revoke these permissions at any time through your device settings. Revoking permissions will disable the blocking features.

7.2 Limitations

  • App blocking may not work perfectly in all circumstances. We do not guarantee that blocked apps will be inaccessible at all times.
  • The blocking feature relies on operating system APIs that may change with system updates.
  • We are not responsible for any consequences arising from the App's blocking features functioning or failing to function as expected.

7.3 Disclaimer

The blocking functionality is provided as a self-help tool. We make no claims about its effectiveness in treating any condition. The decision to use app blocking and the configuration of blocking rules is entirely your responsibility.

8. AI-Generated Monthly Reports

The App may produce a personalized written summary ("Monthly Report") once per month, generated by a third-party large language model (Anthropic's Claude). Reports are based on anonymized statistical aggregates of your check-ins and blocking events, as described in our Privacy Policy.

Monthly Reports are descriptive observations, not professional advice. They do not constitute medical, psychological, therapeutic, or any other form of professional guidance. Although we apply strict prompt engineering and post-processing to keep output factual and neutral, AI-generated text can contain inaccuracies or misinterpretations. You should not rely on Monthly Reports for any decision affecting your health or wellbeing without consulting a qualified professional.

You may disable Monthly Report generation at any time from Settings > Practice > Monthly reports. Disabling this feature stops any further data transmission to Anthropic for your account.

9. Intellectual Property

  • The App, including its design, code, graphics, logos, and content (excluding user-generated content), is owned by Groundr and protected by intellectual property laws.
  • You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or lease any part of the App.
  • You may not reverse engineer or attempt to extract the source code of the App.

10. Limitation of Liability

10.1 Disclaimer of Warranties

The App is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.

10.2 Limitation

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Groundr shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to:

  • Loss of data
  • Loss of profits
  • Personal injury or emotional distress
  • Any damages arising from the use or inability to use the App

10.3 Health Disclaimer

Groundr is not a healthcare provider. The App does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Any information provided within the App (including articles and educational content) is for informational purposes only.

If you are in crisis or experiencing a mental health emergency, please contact emergency services or a crisis helpline in your country.

11. Privacy

Your use of the App is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference.

12. Account Termination

12.1 By You

You may delete your account at any time from within the App (Settings > Delete Account). This will permanently remove your data from our servers.

12.2 By Us

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account if you:

  • Violate these Terms
  • Use the App in a way that could harm other users or our systems
  • Engage in fraudulent activity

13. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated through the App. Your continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

14. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of France, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising from these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Paris, France.

15. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect.
